Yathish Shenava is a Consultant in Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery at Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust in London where he holds a specialist clinical interest in trauma, hip, and knee surgery; a position he has held since 2005.Yathish began his training in India, completing his residency in Mangalore and a lectureship in Trauma and Orthopaedics in St Johns Medical College Hospital in Bangalore in 1994. After moving to England in 1995, he began his Specialty Training across various hospitals in the South Thames Deanery, gaining invaluable experience in paediatric, spinal and upper limb surgery across Canterbury, Margate, and Ashford.A limb reconstruction fellowship at Kings College Hospital in 2001 gave Yathish skills in managing complex complex fractures and deformities, and a further fellowship at Stanmores Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital developed Yathishs expertise in hip and knee arthroplasty before completing the Specialist Registrar years at Guys and St. Thomas Hospital in London.Alongside his clinical work, Yathish is an active lecturer and clinical teacher, educating medical students and foundation year trainees, as well as surgeons enrolled on the FRCS (Ortho) course at Kings College Hospital London. Yathish has published widely in the research areas of knee arthroplasty, rotator cuff repair, and plate fixation for femoral fractures. He continues to research and work in these fields and is passionate about translating this work and experience to bedside care.
