Mrs Renee Behrens has been a Consultant Gynaecologist at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital since March 2008. She runs the Fertility service at Winchester, offers advanced minimal access surgery and established the early pregnancy unit, a service dealing with complications of early pregnancy. She is the lead for Gynaecology, Fertility and Deputy Clinical Director for Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Trust. She is also the Lead Clinician for Gynaecology for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care Board. Renee completed medical training in 1990 gaining honours and went on to do extensive post-graduate training in London, working at both Hammersmith and St Mary's Hospitals. During this time she developed expertise in infertility spending three years working in the Hammersmith In-vitro Fertilisation (IVF) Unit. She was awarded an MD degree from the University of London for research into Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and Fertility in 2009. A further two year surgical fellowship in minimal access (keyhole) surgery led to accreditation in this area by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. She is also accredited in ultrasound scanning in both gynaecology and early pregnancy and is able to offer this as part of the outpatient visit if required. In her current role, Mrs Behrens covers most gynaecological conditions. Her areas of special interest include laparoscopic surgery, fertility, reversal of sterilisation, complications of early pregnancy, menstrual disorders, endometriosis and the menopause.
