Description

Mr Surajit Mitra is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with over 15 years of experience working in the NHS. He completed his specialist registrars training in obstetrics and gynaecology in the London Deanery at Kings College Hospital with National Training Number (NTN). During his training, Mr Mitra worked with several eminent gynaecologists during his training periods in a number of different hospitals, including: Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge, Liverpool Womens Hospital and Kings College Hospital. He furthered his expertise by completing further training modules in minimal access surgery, urogynaecology and gynaecological scanning accredited by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. He is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. As a Fellow, he is actively involved in teaching and training courses for both national and international candidates of the Membership at the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG). He has also organised courses for training doctors, senior trainees and consultants. Mr Mitra holds several professional members, including at the following national and international societies/associations: American Association of Global Laparoscopists British Society of Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology British Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy British Society of Urogynaecology European Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health International Urogynaecology Association He is also an accredited Colposcopist and colposcopy trainer, accredited by the British Society of Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology. Alongside his clinical work, Mr Mitra regularly publishes in peer-reviewed journals and presents his published work at national and international events. He has received a number of prizes for his work during the three decades of his medical career, including the Malcolm Black Travelling Fellowship from the RCOG. He was also nominated by his trainees as Trainer of the Year in 2015-2016.
