Mr Rajesh Kakwani is an experienced Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon practicing in the North East of England. He completed his Undergraduate Medicine studies (MBBS) and completed a Masters Degree in Orthopaedics at Mumbai University, India. Mr. Kakwanis interest in orthopaedic surgery continued and he went on to achieve a MCh Orthopaedics degree from the University of Liverpool in 2006. He has completed a Diplomas in Sports & Exercise Medicine. After completing his Higher Surgical Training at the Northern Deanery, he then went on to gain his FRCS (Orth) accreditation. Following this, he completed his fellowship in foot and ankle surgery under Mr Ian Winson/Mr Steve Hepple, Avon Orthopaedic Centre, Bristol, United Kingdom, and under Mr Chris Blundell, Northern General Hospital, Sheffield; giving him excellent mentorship. Mr. Kakwani gained further experience at the AO Trauma Fellowship in Hannover, Germany in 201 and he was awarded BOFAS Travelling fellowship to the Sigvard Hansen Foot and Ankle Unit, Seattle in 2014. Mr. Kakwani is a passionate educator and has been a Clinical & Educational Supervisor for the Orthopaedic Specialty Trainees and has taught in a variety of regional and national courses. As a testament to his excellence and hard work he was voted to be the Trainer of the Year 2017 & 2020 by the Orthopaedic Registrars (Health Education North-East). He is a member of the Scientific Committee of the British Foot & Ankle Society (BOFAS) He is on the National Orthopaedic ST3 Trainee Selection Design Group and the Natiional Orthopaedic Specialist Advisory Committee He is the Chairman of the ONTEA (OrhNorth Teaching & Education Association) In addition to his other accolades, Mr. Kakwani is also active in research and is widely published in the field of foot and ankle surgery.
