Mr Dominic Meek is a consultant orthopaedic and trauma surgeon with over 20 years of experience. He qualified from the University of Glasgow Medical School in 1990 and has since progressed to the rank of consultant where he is a specialist in hip replacement surgery particularly young and complex revision surgery. He has undertaken fellowships in adult reconstruction of the hip and knee in Vancouver General Hospital and was awarded the British and American Hip Societies Travelling Fellow in 2005 and the ABC Fellowship in 2008. Dominics research interests lie in implant fixation and bone regeneration. He is the present President of the West of Scotland Orthopaedic Research Society and orthopaedic lead in the Glasgow Orthopaedic Research Initiative (GLORI) at Glasgow University, Centre for Cell Engineering. As head of the Glasgow Orthopaedic Research Initiative, he steers the project in combining expertise from orthopaedic surgeons, biologists, engineers and chemists from Glasgow and Strathclyde Universities to deliver the next generation of orthopaedic care. He is also one of the co-founders of the South of Glasgow complex young hip and revision and periprosthetic fractures arthroplasty service.
