Mr Nimalan Maruthainar is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Royal Free and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Orthopaedics and Musculoskeletal Science, University College London. Mr Maruthainar worked as an anatomy demonstrator at Leeds University and Clinical Lecturer at the Institute of Orthopaedics at University College London. He completed his training in surgery in general at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital. Higher surgical training was on the training program of the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital and Royal Free Hospital. Mr Maruthainar also has experience as a member of the Circuit Medical Team at Snetterton Motor Racing Circuit. Appointed a Consultant in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery at the Royal Free Hospital in 2005, Mr Maruthainar has a broad practice in General Orthopaedics and Orthopaedic Trauma with particular emphasis in soft tissue knees surgery, knee replacement and hip replacement. He is the orthopaedic advisor to the Hospitals Lysosomal Storage Disorders Unit and is the departmental lead for the management of orthopaedic tumours. He also serves on the advisory panel of the Lower Syndrome Trust and is an Honorary Consultant with St Lukes Healthcare for the Clergy. Mr Maruthainar is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Musculoskeletal Science, University College London and has lead roles in the training of medical students and specialty trainees. He has published widely in peer review journals and book texts.
