Mr Karuppaiah is a clinician and an academic. As a clinician, he works with Kings College Hospital, London, as a consultant. He occupied the position after completing his higher training in shoulder, elbow, hand and wrist surgeries in 2014. He is into the treatment of multiple injured patients at Kings College Hospital. He is into the management of various orthopaedic conditions that affect the shoulder, elbow, hand and wrist. He is skilled at broad evaluation and management of sports injuries, arthritis, nerve, and tendon problems in the upper limb. Likewise, Mr Karuppaiah provides tertiary referral service for complex upper-limb injuries. His orthopaedic training took place in Kings College Hospital, London and Ganga Hospital, India.He obtained training in a variety of hospitals in southeast London and northeast England. He bagged masters degrees in orthopaedics from the Teesside University, UK and Madras Medical College, India. His masters degree was on Evidence-Based Medicine in Orthopaedics and it helped to adjust his clinical approach to patients towards the provision of the best available and up-to-date evidence-based cutting-edge care. As an academic, Mr Karuppaiah frequently lectures at national and international leading conferences and training courses. He teaches trainees on modern orthopaedic techniques, as well as the trainees from SE Thames Orthopaedic rotation, and undergraduate students at Guys, Kings, and St. Thomas Medical Schools.He is a faculty in Kings FRCS intense revision course- Hand surgery FRCS (Orth) revision course and Medway Upper-limb course and is a clinical and educational supervisor for foundation year and speciality training doctors. Mr Karuppaiah has over 25 articles in peer-reviewed indexed journals. His research interest is in upper-limb research and his research efforts have been recognised nationally and internationally. His research work is cited by many authors, journals and orthopaedic textbooks. He belongs to the editorial board and reviews a variety of international scientific orthopaedic journals.
