Mr John Dabis, Consultant Knee and Trauma Surgeon, is currently working within the Kingston Hospital. He is highly specialised in the treatment of a wide range of knee issues including paediatric knee conditions, complex and revision knee surgery, young adult knee preservation, osteotomy and ligament ruptures, and partial/total and revision knee replacements.Mr Dabis began his medical education at Barts and the Royal London Medical school, where he graduated in 2006. He then proceeded to complete his Higher Specialty Training in Orthopaedics in the South West London rotation, learning from some of the best orthopaedic schools in the UK. Afterwards, he then undertook 2 fellowships at the UK Osteotomy centre and an international one at the Brisbane Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Centre. He was also awarded an additional fellowship in 2017, the BOSTAA travelling fellowship where he visited surgeons at prestigious institutions in Europe. He was also awarded two trauma-related fellowships - an AO trauma fellowship with Harvard Trauma and the other a trauma limb reconstruction fellowship in South Africa. During his training, he also undertook a Masters degree in sports and exercise medicine at University College London.Mr Dabis was appointed to his current role in 2019 and is currently Trauma Lead for his unit. He is a member of several highly respected associations including the British Association for Surgery of the Knee, European Society for Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery & Arthroscopy, British Orthopaedic Sports Trauma and Arthroscopy Association, UK Knee Osteotomy Registry, and the International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine. He has also won several prizes for his work including the coveted ESSKA award. He has a significant research past, with numerous peer-reviewed publications and invites to present his findings at conferences around the world. He has also written many chapters for textbooks and remains an active educator.
