Mr Hisham Shalaby is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon based in Edinburgh, with over two decades of experience in the treatment and management of orthopaedic conditions, particularly foot and ankle conditions, limb reconstruction and complex foot conditions. He sees private patients at the Spire Edinburgh Hospitals and The Edinburgh Clinic.Mr Shalaby earned his primary medical qualification in 1996, after which he went on to earn his Masters Degree in Trauma and Orthopaedics. He then gained entry to the Royal College of Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeons in 2006, and undertook his surgical speciality training in Cairo, Egypt, and across the UK in Edinburgh, Liverpool and Nottingham. During this time spent training at renowned institutions, Mr Shalaby developed a passion for Foot and Ankle surgery, and went on to defend an MD thesis on the Correction of Complex Foot & Ankle Deformities . He also undertook intensive research on these sub-specialities and went on to publish his work in renouned medical journals and present his findings at national and international conferences.After completing his Advanced Deformity Correction Fellowship in Liverpool, Mr Shalaby was appointed Consultant in Edinburgh and has since utilised cutting edge technology for Foot and Ankle surgery, and limb reconstruction. He is also a member of various orthopaedic societies including the British Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society and the British Orthopaedic Association. He has also been the Chair of the Foot and Ankle Scotland (FASt) society.
