Professor Hemant Pandit is Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at University of Leeds and consultant orthopaedic surgeon at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. He also holds the posts of Director of Research and Innovation (Leeds Institute of Rheumatic and Musculoskeletal Medicine) and Clinical Director at Chapel Allerton Hospital. He is the speciality lead for Yorkshire and Humber CRN and member of the West Yorkshire Association of Acute Trusts (WYAAT).In addition to his other work, he also holds the title of Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery with the University of Oxford and visiting Professor at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, India. He collaborates with various colleagues both nationally as well as internationally and is a member of various National Joint Registry (NJR) subcommittees.Professor Pandit has pursued a career in translational research in Orthopaedics and is particularly interested in hip and knee arthroplasty. He completed his DPhil (Oxon) in knee kinematics and was first to describe the problems associated with metal-on-metal hips (pseudotumours). Hemants contributions in the fields of arthroplasty, enhanced peri-operative recovery, teaching and training medics and paramedics are well recognised. He has also made a significant contribution towards teaching and capacity building in the low/middle-income countries of Asia and Africa. He is widely published and has published more than 275 scientific articles and over 30 book chapters.
