Mr Hassan Elhassan is a Sinus Surgery and Nose specialist in London. He is partitulary skilled at helping patients with sinusitis, nasal polyps, deviated septum, blocked noses and breathing problems. He has developed specialist surgical skills and techniques in endoscopic sinus surgery by training and visiting the best centres of sinus surgery excellence in the world. He is one the few surgeons offering revision sinus surgery and septal perforation closure. He is also able to treat most general Ear, Nose and Throat surgery conditions for both adults and children. Mr Elhassan gained his primary qualification in Medicine from Barts and The London, University of London in 2005 and attained Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2015. In 2016, he gained the Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training – Otorhinolaryngology from the General Medical Council of the United Kingdom. Mr Elhassan was appointed as Consultant Surgeon in 2018, his NHS practice is based in Homerton University Hospital Foundation Trust and he also has private practice privileges in London. Mr Elhassan has an enthusiasm for surgical efficient process and management and has introduced many quality improvement initiatives in multiple hospital departments. More recently he was appointed Deputy Clinical Director for ENT in the London region. He has contributed to the design of the High Volume Low Capacity ENT pathways as part of the Elective Recovery Program. Part of his remit has involved co-ordinating pathways in North East London, to offer patients elective surgery in the neighbouring hospitals to help reduce the COVID backlog. Mr Elhassan has an interest in bench to bedside research and has a BSc in experimental pathology and supervises medical students and junior doctors. He is a proponent of surgical innovation and technology as well as Evidence Based Medicine and has published in leading journals on these topics. He has presented nationally and internationally and received multiple post graduate prizes. He is a keen clinical teacher and has chaired the Junior branch of the Association for the Study of Medical Education and was awarded University colours for his work on the undergraduate curriculum. He has organised a national conference on medical education and has convened the first cadaveric sinus surgery dissection course in Wales.
