Mr David Hinsley is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at Spire Clare Park Hospital who specialises in foot and ankle surgery, soft tissue knee surgery, and post-trauma reconstruction. He also has interests in arthroscopy, sports injuries and medico-legal work. Mr Hinsley gained his medical qualification from the University of Leicester in 1993 before joining the army as a medical officer. He undertook his basic surgical training in Wessex and has served in Bosnia, Northern Ireland, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Sierra Leone. He then undertook orthopaedic training and fellowships in foot and ankle and limb reconstruction surgery at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre and the Hospital for Special Surgery (USA). He obtained his fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2006. Mr Hinsley has published many papers in medical journals and currently teaches and examins on the FRCS(Orth) course in Oxford. He also delivers lectures on foot and ankle and trauma surgery. Outside of the hospital, Mr Hinsley enjoys competing in triathlons and has represented Great Britain in his age group.
