Mr David Hartwright is a leading Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Royal Hampshire County NHS Hospital along with his private practices at BMI Healthcare and Nuffield Wessex Hospitals. He is fully trained in general Orthopaedics and Trauma and specialises in lower limb surgery, in particular hip and knee arthroplasty as well as sports injuries. Mr Hartwright was awarded his medical degree from the University of Birmingham and underwent specialist surgical training in London including Guys and St. Thomas Hospitals. He underwent specialist fellowship training in orthopaedic surgery in renowned centres in Sydney, Australia and Zurich, Switzerland. During this time, he gained extensive experience in all aspects of trauma surgery, as well as orthopaedic hip and shoulder surgery. His areas of interest include hip resurfacing, orthopaedic revision surgery, degenerative knee disorders, arthroplasty, various sports injuries, meniscal disease, ligament reconstruction and trauma surgery. As well as his busy clinical practice, Mr Hartwright is involved in academic research and medical education. He has published a number of articles in prominent orthopaedic journals, has presented his work at various national and international meetings, and acts as a reviewer for a variety of academic journals. He is currently an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons and acts as an educational supervisor for the Wessex Deanery.
