Mr. Daniel Dowen is a highly skilled Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with expertise in hip and knee replacement surgery, including complex and revision procedures. He also specialises in keyhole knee surgery and is actively involved in general orthopaedic trauma surgery in his NHS practice at Sunderland Royal Hospital. Mr. Dowen completed his medical training at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in 2005, and went on to pursue surgical training in the same region. To further develop his skills and knowledge, he completed a year-long fellowship in lower limb joint replacement in Auckland, New Zealand.In addition to his clinical work, Mr. Dowen holds a BSc degree in biomedical sciences from the University of Leeds, which he completed in 2000. This has given him a strong foundation in research, leading him to have contributed as a named author to over 20 publications, reflecting his commitment to evidence-based medical practice.Currently, Mr. Dowen serves as the research lead for trauma and orthopaedics at Sunderland Royal Hospital.
