Mr Cronan Kerin is a Consultant Knee & Trauma Surgeon in the Liverpool University Hospitals. Since December 2012, he has offered a regional knee reconstruction service for patients in Cheshire and Merseyside. After graduating from St Andrews and Manchester Universities medical programme Mr Kerin spent his early medical career in the Lancashire region. He then undertook his Higher Surgical Training on the prestigious Oswestry Orthopaedic Training programme. Following his Higher Surgical Training Mr Kerin undertook fellowship training in knee surgery at Aintree University Hospital and Alder Hey Childrens NHS Foundation Trust. His training was further enhanced by fellowships in America, Germany and Northern Ireland. He was first appointed as a Consultant in February 2012 in Dumfries but was asked to come back to Aintree when a consultant post became available. Electively Mr Kerins main areas of interest are knee replacement; both primary and revision; knee sports injuries and arthritis prevention. Mr Kerin is recognised as one of the foremost trainers within the region and as such he has been awarded the prestigious Honorary Senior ecture post at the University of Liverpool. As such he is regularly invited to teach at national and international meetings, training juniors and other Consultants on arthroscopic surgery, ligament reconstruction of the knee and knee replacement and trauma surgery. Mr Kerins interest in sport started as a young man. At school he was a member of the Merseyside athletics team running the 100 and 200m. Later in life he was a St Andrews University Blue in Rugby. He also represented Manchester Medical School in both rugby and football. As a result he has a keen interest in sports knee injuries and their management for all levels of players.
