Mr Chinmay Gupte is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon and Clinical Reader (Associate Professor) in the knee and trauma surgery at Imperial College, London (St Marys and Charing Cross Hospitals), and a Senior Surgeon at The Wellington Knee Unit and Portland Hospitals. He qualified from Oxford University and trained surgically at St Marys and Charing Cross Hospitals. Mr Gupte was awarded a PhD from Imperial College in 2004 for his study on the meniscofemoral knee ligaments and their role in knee arthritis and ligament injury. He also won the prestigious British Orthopaedic Association Robert Jones Gold Medal Proxime Accessit in 2005. Mr Gupte was the youngest President of the Royal Society of Medicine Orthopaedics Section. He is also a member of the British Association for Surgery of the Knee.Mr Chinmay Gupte is an expert in childrens and adult sports knee conditions. His routine services include the management of meniscal and cruciate ligament injuries, patellofemoral instability and pain, osteochondral injuries and early arthritis. His aim is to tailor the best possible treatment for each patient individually considering biomechanics, family history, demands placed on the knee and sports aspirations. He closely collaborates with physiotherapists in decision making and rehabilitation.Mr Gupte has a keen interest in clinical research with the focus on meniscal surgery and knee ligament reconstruction, and also in arthroscopic simulator training.
