Mr. Anant Tambe is a Consultant Spinal Surgeon. His specialist orthopaedic training was in the Sheffield (North Trent) Orthopaedic rotation. Subsequently, he did two fellowships in spinal surgery. The first was based at Sheffield Teaching hospitals and the second year was at Leeds Teaching Hospitals as the National Spinal Fellow. This prestigious fellowship gave him combined neurosurgical and orthopaedic spinal experience and helped me develop my skills further.Mr. Tambe has a comprehensive spinal surgical practice. His work at The Royal Manchester Childrens Hospital (RMCH) involves dealing with complex paediatric problems including deformity. RMCH is one of the two index referral centres for neurofibromatosis. In addition, he is also the National Paediatric Spinal Surgical Lead for neurofibromatosis. His adult practice at Salford Royal Foundation Trust includes complex and varied pathology (deformity, infection, tumour and degenerative conditions) in all areas of the spine (cervical, thoracic and lumbar). He has a specialist interest in complex cervical pathology.Mr. Tambe is very keen on continuous quality improvement in spinal surgery to ensure the best patient outcomes. He enters all patient data onto the British Spine Registry and Spine Tango to assess patient outcomes. This gives him a valuable self-audit tool to constantly improve his practise. In the last year, he has operated on 253 patients. As per the Spine Tango data, a significant percentage of his patients felt they had been helped by the surgery and a majority were very satisfied with the overall care. Not only does he run a sucessful practice, but he himself had major spinal surgery five years ago and had a successful functional outcome after a long rigorous rehabilitation programme. This personal event has made him empathise more with his patients; understanding all aspects of the recovery process from a personal as well as a medical perspective. He is able to provide tailored advice and support to all his patients due to this unique insight into the dos and donts after spinal surgery.Diseases, Medical Tests and TreatmentsBack surgery (spinal surgery)Epidural injectionsFacet joint injectionsPain management injections for back and facet jointsScoliosis correctionVertebroplastyCervical disc replacement and fusion Cervical spine surgery Lumbar spinal fusionTLIF/PLIF/EXLIF MicrodiscectomyMicrodecompressionLaminectomy MIS spinal surgery Transforaminal epidural injectionsAdult, paediatric and adolescent spinal deformitySpinal surgery NeurosurgeryAdult degenerative conditions (cervical, thoracic and lumbar)Spinal trauma
