Mr Sudip Ray was appointed as a Consultant Vascular Surgeon at Kingston and Charing Cross Hospitals in 2000. Prior to this he worked as a Consultant at Frimley Park Hospital, Camberley and was a Senior Registrar at both St. Thomas’ and St. George’s Hospitals in London. He qualified from Magdalen College, Oxford University and completed clinical studies at the Westminster Hospital, London. Mr Ray has worked as a Travelling Fellow in the prestigious vascular centres at UCLA, California and Albany Medical Centre, New York. He continues to work in the NHS and was revalidated by the General Medical Council in 2013. He practices privately in Wimbledon, Kingston, Harley Street and the Channel Islands. Whilst having worked in all aspects of arterial and venous disease he is particularly interested in minimally invasive (keyhole) treatment of varicose veins and sclerotherapy (microinjections) which have replaced the need for more invasive techniques such as stripping. He is the UK lead trainer for the new procedure, Venaseal, in which veins can be closed using a medical superglue without any need for anaesthetic and is the Chairman of the Thrombosis Group at Kingston Hospital. He also has considerable experience in the management of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and arterial blockages of the legs (claudication).
