Stuart studied Dentistry in Edinburgh and Medicine in Aberdeen before completing his higher surgical training in the North East. In addition to dental & surgical fellowships he has a Diploma in Medical Education and is a Fellow of the Faculty of Surgical Trainers of RCSEd. He is Council member and Trustee of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd) and the first OMFS surgeon outside Scotland to be elected to Council.He is Dean for the International Post Graduate Deanery for RCSEd. He was formerly Training Programme Director for Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Chair of the Specialist Surgical Board for OMFS for the North West .He hosts, supervises and examines nationally and internationally for MRCS and examines for specialist OMFS & MFDS examinations. He is Clinical Lead for OMFS for Manchester Royal Infirmary and regularly instructs on advanced trauma and critical care. He is married with 3 children and an English Bull Terrier.
