In 1988 I qualified as a Dentist. I worked in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery units for 3 years prior to returning to University to study Medicine, qualifying as a Doctor in 1996. While at medical school I completed a Masters degree in Immunology. I worked for 3 years as a junior doctor in various specialties including cardiothoracic surgery and orthopaedics. I started my higher surgical training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 1999 and I have been a full time Consultant since 2004. I have a recognised specialist interest in head and neck cancer and facial reconstruction. I still regularly conduct dentoalveolar surgery in the NHS sector. We are fortunate that our Head and Neck cancer service has an International reputation, particularly regarding facial reconstruction using novel 3D techniques.
