A fully qualified, HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist, I have worked in a variety of specialist settings including mental health, neurology and community based occupational therapy within the NHS, local authorities and the private sector both with children and adults to my current role as a Senior OT within housing adaptions. I have a focused, person centered approach to my work which ensures I make individualised recommendations to meet my clients' needs enabling them to live safely and independently. I started my OT career in 2002 following my degree in Occupational therapy. With a keen passion for the subject, I determinedly worked in a basic grade role in Germany and assistive roles the UK, gaining knowledge of different roles and services within the industry and gaining HCPC registration to take on more specialist fields. This has amassed my exemplary knowledge of the complex and ever changing social and medical needs of clients with physical disabilities. Throughout my career, I have worked collaboratively with different professionals across Adult Social Care and housing, health care, voluntary and statutory agencies as well as in the private sector. My personal and work travels have also helped me gain a key understanding of cultures and circumstances of others meaning I can direct a tailored and compassionate approach to each client relative to their background. My passion soon grew into the specialist field of housing adaptions and I gained considerable experience in providing cost effective solutions using creativity and initiative. Working closely with adaptations surveyors, I have gained a thorough understanding of construction and am able to carry out professional surveying and computer aided design duties in order to bring down time and costs made in this area.
