My occupational therapy journey was inspired by my volunteer work in Mexico on a charity mission. I experienced many different challenges helping at a centre for those with learning difficulties and mental health issues. I spent time at a centred that showed me that if they had the opportunity to engage in meaningful occupation their lives would be enriched. Studying occupational therapy at Northumbria University has enabled me to develop a variety of skills and knowledge, growing my passion for the profession. I have had the opportunity to work in a range of practice areas such as mental health and a specialist traumatic brain injury service. Throughout the various placements, I developed a particular interest in the mental health sector. Whilst at the beginning of my occupational therapy journey I’m excited to see where it will take me and to build on my knowledge and skills within a clinical role. I am currently working onto two Older Adult mental health wards within CNTW.
