I have been qualified as an Occupational Therapist since 2017, I currently work as a specialist OT in Neurological and Stroke services. Patient’s may have had a stroke, brain injury or a diagnosis of a neurological disease. My skills include, assessment and provision of 24 hour postural management, assessment for specialist seating. Providing bespoke splinting, as well as completing complex cognitive rehabilitation and fatigue management. I pride myself in my multi lingual skills being able to speak fluently in English, Urdu, Mirpuri and can understand Gujarati. This helps my ability to communicate well and effectively with my patients especially with working in a diverse city! My previous experience includes, Medicine, RADS, Trauma, Paediatrics, Neuro Rehab, the Medicine team for Cardiac & Respiratory and Early supported discharge service. I work within my professional boundaries and apply the professions core values of person centred care, holism and respect during my assessment and intervention with my patients. I have strong interpersonal skills and use these to understand client’s needs to ensure I am able to provide the best possible care. I have used my skills to build therapeutic relationships based on trust and mutual expectations. I am able to establish an excellent therapeutic rapport which enables me to work collaboratively with patients to establish their needs and wishes. I have provided Occupational Therapy interventions to maximise independence and functioning and have ensured my practice is holistic and client centred, staying true to core OT philosophies and values.
