Sherrell Gibson, FNP-C, is a Family Nurse Practitioner, board-certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, and is currently licensed to practice in Texas. Gibson earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2014 from The University of Texas at Arlington and a Master of Science in Nursing in 2018 at The University of Texas Health Science Center of Houston. In 2020, after completing specialized training, she transitioned into a provider for MyCHN. She then completed focused training and the mentorship program through the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (ASCCP) to become a certified colposcopist in 2021. Gibson has a strong passion for health promotion, risk reduction, and disease prevention. CHN Providers will no longer be prescribing certain medications including benzodiazepines, adult stimulants, anxiolytics, mood stabilizers and hydrocodone unless medically necessary with current prescription bottles. This change is part of patient initiative. Although these medications can be effective for certain treatment use, all departments agree with the quality management team that certain medications are creating too high of a risk for our patients such as dependence or abuse over the long term. These medications include the generic or brand name listed below but are not limited to: • Soma, Xanax, Valium, Ativan, Lorazepam, Diazepam, Clonazepam, Klonipin • Adderall, Ritalin, Vyvanse, Methylin, Intuniv, Concerta, Straterra • Vicodin, Norco, Hydrocodone, Hycet, Lortab, Fentanyl, Morphine, Oxycontin Your provider will work with you on a plan to discuss the medication safety, refer you to a behavioral health consultant and/or psychiatrist or refer to a pain management consultant or a chemical dependency program.
