THYROID SURGERY. I perform in excess of 150 thyroid operation yearly, placing my personal practice workload over the 95% percentile in the UK. I introduced the use of recurrent laryngeal nerve monitoring during thyroid surgery and I am co-author to international guidelines for its use. I have developed a particular expertise in the treatment of large retrosternal goiters with critical airway compression. I am Lead for the Thames Valley Cancer Network and I am nominated for lymph node surgery in patients with advanced thyroid cancer (papillary and medullary thyroid cancer). PARATHYROID SURGERY. I have extensive experience with scan-directed minimally-invasive parathyroidectomy. I have a particular interest in the assessment and treatment of patients with negative scans, those with familial syndromes (MEN-1) and those needing redo surgery after failed initial neck exploration. ADRENAL SURGERY. Patients with benign functional tumours and adrenal metastases are offered both laparoscopic and retroperitoneoscopic adrenalectomy. I have a particular interest and expertise in open surgery for large adrenal cancers including multi visceral-en-block resections for locally-advanced disease
