Mr Waites is an orthopaedic surgeon specialising in hip and knee surgery. He consults and operates at Ramsay West Midlands and Ramsay Stourside Hospitals. He is a consultant at the NHS Midlands Orthopaedic Centre, Dudley Group of Hospitals.He trained at St Bartholomews Hospital Medical School, London and completed higher surgical training on the London, South West Thames (St Georges Hospital) rotation. Matthew then completed a research fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, MD, USA and a clinical fellowship in joint replacement surgery and knee sports injuries in Sydney, Australia. He is actively involved in education and training of surgical trainees and allied health professionals. He has management experience having served as clinical director for surgical specialties at the Dudley Group of Hospitals 2014-2017. He is passionate about rapid recovery and high functional outcomes following surgery using techniques to minimise post operative pain and ensure a quick return to activities of daily living. He is a member of the British Association for Surgery of the Knee (BASK), British Orthopaedic Association and American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
