An accomplished and experienced Occupational Therapist, I completed my BSc in Psychology and gained a First-Class degree. On finishing, I worked for two years as an occupational and speech therapy assistant with children who needed additional support in mainstream schools. Wanting to develop professionally, I continued onto Brunel University where I successfully completed the MSc programme in Occupational Therapy. Graduating with an A+ in my final dissertation, I was given the honour of being a part-time lecturer at Brunel University on a placement programme for MSc students. For two years, I have then been working as a paediatric Occupational Therapist at the largest specialist school for children with autism in Europe, based in Hillingdon. Whilst there I have: - Created strategies for universal targeted and specialist tiered care. - Supported parents with home programs as well as with suggestions on how to best help their own mental health. - Worked as part of a large, multidisciplinary team including Speech and Language therapists, Drama therapist, Clinical Psychologist, Dance Movement Psychotherapist, etc.... - Held annual review meetings for children where we would recommend changes to EHCPs (Educational Health Care Plans.) I have now again taken up the role of a part-time lecturer at Brunel University, where my role includes supporting Msc students on a paediatric practice placement at Brunel's Children's Research Clinic, through training and supervision. I am also the lead Occupational Therapist at The Southover Partnership - comprising a group of three specialist schools - where I am developing the Occupational Therapy department to provide a tiered model of OT service provision for pupils and their families . I am a reviewer for the Journals 'Physical and Occupational Therapy in Pediatrics' and 'Developmental Neurorehabilitation'.
