Qualified Occupational Therapist since February 2017. Bsc Honours in Occupational Therapy Gained from Canterbury Christ Church University, Kent, England. Registered with the HCPC As a student I gained experience in Neuro rehab, hand therapy and inpatient and community mental health completing placements. Once qualified I remained in England where I studied and began as an inpatient/ hospital OT in Dartford for just under a year. Providing assessment and intervention in a general medical/ respiratory ward Including discharge planning by completing standardised assessments, home environment assessments and sourcing equipment and appropriate adaptations. I then returned home to Northern Ireland and took a temporary role in the recovery service providing rehabilitation to adults and older adults in their homes. including standardised assessments, functional assessments, cognitive assessments, environment assessments, falls assessments and risk assessments. Providing intervention and adaptations to suit each service users needs to remain at home as independent as able. Following this post I moved to the Belfast trust and began working as a community OT. This role was specific to providing adaptions and equipment to support carers and service users within their homes. it also included working into residential and nursing homes to provide assessment and equipment required to support each service users care needs. As I preferred the Northern Trust location I moved back to work in the Recovery Service for 3yrs. I have now undertook a specialised role in Dementia Services which began 6th June 2022, this role will involve me learning and developing on specialised seating, major adaptations and knowledge/ role regarding the mental capacity Act and how this in incorporated into my role as an OT. Within my roles I have vaguely summerised my jobs roles but these all include transferrable occupational therapy skills. I have a mix of experience with mental health, dementia, physical health, neurological conditions, equipment, falls intervention, recovery programmes, home adaptations and generalised OT assessments. I would describe myself as committed, reliable and passionate about my role, willing to work hard and be flexible to whatever the job entails.
