Hi there, I'm Alike! My name is Aliké Chandler license number 139553. My approach entails connecting with my clients in an away that makes them feel safe and seen. Many times clients carry the heaviness of their challenges and have the desire to be care for in a way that it genuine and approachable. I enjoy being the guide towards their healthy outcomes. I focus on empowering the client towards autonomy, increasing insight to the problem or challenge at hand, and establishing realistic goals and tools that will enable the client to manifest a transition in their lives. My approach The most common theoretical approaches that I embrace are Client/Person-Centered (PCT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). While the client can benefit from many other modalities, it is important to assist in reframing the thought patterns that have a direct impact on the undesired behaviors and responses. Both PCT and CBT help individuals in harnessing agency over their own lives. In order to attain this, I work with clients on establishing internal resources that are explored through psycho-education and tasks outside of the session that the client can practice and utilize when situations prompt them to do so. My focus I typically work with high functioning clients that are seeking assistance in the area of parenting, relationships (familial, personal, romantic and work). I work primarily with women of color and. LGBTQ who contend with a mental health challenge or trauma that is also coupled with their social location (gender, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation and SES). Many clients seek assistance that are dealing with life transitions that are difficult for them to manage i.e. new mom, sexual orientation etc. My communication style Clients tend to feel very comfortable. The tone I tend to set is authentic to who I am, very open and laid back.
