He went to medical school and did his residency SUNY Downstate where he won the Excellence in Ophthalmology award 3 years in a row from 2003 to 2005 and was selected to be Chief Resident. Scholarship winner from Japanese Medical Society of America in 2003 and 2004. Currently Dr. Asoma is also a Clinical Assistant Professor teaching residents at SUNY. Dr. Asoma and Dr. Hayashi have been working together in the ophthalmology office and also on community service projects for years. He is board certified in ophthalmology, and also has specialized training in Laser Refractive Eye Surgery (LASIK, PRK, LASEK), corneal transplants, both traditional and new thin-laser DSAEK. Dr. Asoma also helps patients with dry tired irritated eyes, red eyes, glaucoma, diabetes, growths on the eyes, glasses, contacts, allergies, macular degeneration.
