Dr. Ilana Palgi is Clinical Psychologist with a private practice in Manhattan where she offers both psychotherapy and wellness counseling. In psychotherapy, Dr. Palgi welcomes individual adults and families who are seeking to create change in their lives. Many of her clients are feeling stuck or challenged in some ways that have been difficult to resolve. Therapy sessions with Dr. Palgi draw on Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), an approach that uses the mind, body, and emotions in making change. Clients have new and meaningful experiences in sessions which are part of the change process. Dr. Palgi works collaboratively with clients to understand the origins of present challenges and safely feel what has not been felt. This motivates change for the better and re-awakens the feeling of vitality. Clients can then re-engage with their careers, loved ones, and themselves in more meaningful ways.Dr. Palgi also provides wellness counseling. She has training in yoga, ayurvedic yoga therapy, and breathwork, and she engages the mind-body connection into a practice of supporting clients with implementing lifestyle changes. This can include improving diet, exercise, sleep, and stress management, and building in more positive social connections and play. The importance of clients feeling safe, heard, and understood is a top priority for Dr. Palgi, from the first meeting and throughout the process together. As such, her approach is individualized to each client's unique history, experiences, values, and goals for the work.
