My ideal client is ready for change and the process that comes along with it. They may not know their growing edges yet, but they know there is something they would like to change and desire help to get there. My ideal client is motivated, insightful, and open to the therapeutic process. I aim to serve clients who have experienced trauma and are struggling with the lasting effects. I also enjoy working with relational difficulties, identity issues, and overwhelming life changes. Further, I am passionate about serving marginalized communities and offering the support our society often fails to give.During graduate school, I worked closely with survivors of sexual abuse, focusing sessions on emotional identification/regulation, coping skills, and trauma processing through an empowerment-focused and strengths-based lens. I also have specialized experience counseling adolescents with problematic sexual behaviors and addictions (process or substance).The hardest step is often the first step. We live in a culture that teaches us from a young age to internalize our emotions and push through hard times alone to prevent others from seeing us as "weak" or "troubled." You do not have to go through life alone, and the therapeutic relationship can be a meaningful first step in recognizing and honoring this.
