Dr. Euthalia Roussou is a well-respected experienced clinician practicing medicine for over 30 years and a consultant Rheumatologist since 1996. Dr. Roussou is dedicated to the creation of transformative experiences of health for her patients, through extensive/meticulous history taking, diagnostic tools’ application and in-depth examination aiming to identify the root cause of the patients’ arthritic complaints, whether from small joints, spine or soft tissues. She is offering devoted care and customizes a treatment plan that aims to correct ill health. Graduated from the medical school of the Aristoteles University of Thessaloniki, and after a thorough grounding in acute medicine in both the UK and abroad had her training in Rheumatology in Birmingham UK and Bath Somerset at the Royal national hospital for rheumatic diseases (The Mineral). She published her doctoral thesis following her fellowship at the University of Birmingham investigating underlying immunological mechanisms in autoimmune diseases. Her subspecialty includes immunology and epidemiology. Her extensive laboratory experience has subsequently been used in the development of a dedicated laboratory adjacent to the rheumatology trials’ unit which she is leading at her hospital. She had postdoctoral studies in Ankylosing spondylitis and was the first ever clinician to associate disease activity with employment status in patients with Ankylosing Spondylitis. She subsequently extended her interest in Psoriatic arthritis and Fibromyalgia She was the chief investigator for the whole of the UK in the development of the new criteria for Spondyloarthropathies. She is a full member of the Assessment of Spondyloarthropathies (ASAS) International group and the group for research of Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis (GRAPPA). She has numerous publications in scientific peer review journals and is known as an expert in disease expression in ethnic minority groups living in North East London. She is practicing medical obstetrics by following up women with arthritis during their pregnancy. She is a clinical senior lecturer at the Queen Mary’s medical school and has been the Lead of the service for approximately 5 years.
