I am a committed and highly motivated senior Occupational Therapist. I have been working with a neurological case load since March 2010 gaining experience working in two of Scotland's specialist brain Injury and neurological rehabilitation centres and in the community Brain Injury Team. I have gained specific experience in working with clients with physical, cognitive, psychological, visual, and behavioural impairments, ranging in age from 16+. I am responsible for providing comprehensive assessments using formal/standardised (including COTNAB, LOTCA, BIVABA, WHIM and SMART) and informal tests and observations of everyday functioning. I feel confident in assessing clients with varying levels of need and work collaboratively with a Multi-Disciplinary team, the client and their support networks to ensure goals are person-centred, functional, meaningful, realistic and pertinent to what the client wishes to achieve. The goals I facilitate are of a wide spectrum and range in complexity. I am confident in discharge planning and play a key role in providing support and advice to families, carers and external agencies involved in on-going care. I am able to quickly establish rapport with patients, professionals and families alike and feel confident in my ability to articulate information. I am an accredited SMART assessor and play a key role in assessment and treatment of clients with prolonged disorders of consciousness. I am able to carry out in-depth assessment to establish an indicative diagnosis and identify levels of awareness across all sensory modalities. Through this I play a key role in coordinating treatment with the MDT team to increase functional goals and improve quality of life. Further to this I am involved in daily liaison with the MDT including attending weekly patient reviews, joint sessions with SLT, physiotherapy, psychology, nursing and care staff.
