I am a Specialist Occupational Therapist with 20 years experience within the Health and Social Care Sector. I am really passionate about OT and really enjoy my work. I'm inspired by being able to make a positive difference and help improve people's comfort, safety and enhancing quality of life. I have been working with Gel Ovations Europe Ltd, Ribcap UK and Pearce Brothers Mobility for over 9 years. I'm a very hands on OT and many people know me as a therapist who thinks out of the box to help and meet the needs of individuals. As part of Pearce Brothers Mobility, I specialise in moving and handling with children and adults with complex needs. I assess and provide advice on bespoke slings and harnesses, bathing equipment, active and power wheelchairs and comfort seating. I am also a Moving and Handling Practitioner and provide training to the NHS, Social Care, Care Homes, Care Companies, Personal Aasistants/Carers, Schools and families. Over the past two years I have been an Ergochair assessor. I assess children and adults for specialist office seating for school and work. I provide support and recommendations to individuals with postural needs and back pain to improve their seating and comfort, enabling them to work more productively at their desk. With many people home working due to the pandemic, supportive office seating is essential at home, as well as in the work environment. I have a special interest in pressure care injury prevention and work closely with Gel Ovations to provide Gel products to reduce the risk or to be part of the treatment for individuals with pressure ulcers. I design a lot of bespoke Gel products for equipment to help protect peoples skin and improve their comfort. More recently, I have become involved with Ribcap, providing advice to individuals who need protective headwear. I really enjoy helping improving individuals safety at home, work, school and in the community. Previously I worked as an Occupational Therapist for the NHS in Neurology, Rheumatology, Orthopaedics and Older Persons Mental Health. I also worked for South Gloucestershire Council for six years as a Social Care Occupational Therapist focusing on home adaptations and safe Moving and Handling in the community.
