I completed my MSc in Occupational Therapy from the university of Brighton in 2017. I am currently undertaking a postgraduate certificate in sensory integration education (SIE) through Sheffield Hallam University. I have recently completed module 1 as of Aug 2022. I have been in my current role since 2020; working as a community paediatric OT for west Berkshire local authority. I I am responsible for managing my own case load, and visit clients in their home for assessments. I currently work with families of children with disabilities aged from birth to 18 years. Within my role I complete both standardised and non standardised assessments with young people who have vastly differing diagnosis and presentations. I complete comprehensive written assessment reports detailing the young persons needs and goals. I assess for and provide specialist seating, daily living aids, specialist beds and provide moving and positioning equipment and write associated risk assessments and plans. I am an EDGE trained therapist and use my skills to train others and demonstrate techniques to families to promote safer moving and positioning. I advise on and make applications for Disabled Facilities Grants and liaise with the grants team in plans to ensure the clients needs are met. My ability to problem solve, work flexibly and independently, plan, organise and time manage my workload are all skills essential in my role.
