Sometimes these feelings can lead to further unhealthy behaviours such as addictions or compulsive behaviours.   I am very experienced in helping clients with issues of trauma, abuse and neglect, particularly in childhood. I have a comprehensive understanding of the effect of abuse on an individual, family and society. My sensitive and empathic approach creates a safe environment where clients can feel able to explore their deepest hurts. I have 20+ years of experience in working with clients with drug and alcohol issues and I have knowledge of various treatment models including harm minimisation and the 12-step philosophy. As a self-employed counsellor, I work for Sussex Breakeven, a franchise of GamCare, providing counselling to anyone affected by problem gambling and have an understanding of the prevalence and treatment of gamblers.I have experience counselling individuals who have experienced trauma through their line of work, for example, emergency services personnel and medical staff. I offer a safe space in which to explore ways to manage traumatic memories or incidents and to be forward moving.
