Mr. Andrew Jenkinson is a general surgeon practicing in Harley Street, central London and for the NHS at University College London Hospital (UCLH). His areas of expertise include bariatric surgery for weight loss and diabetes, acid reflux disease (heartburn), gallstones, hernia repair, abdominal pain and surgical emergencies. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons and holds a Master of Surgery title for his research thesis. He is a member of the British Obesity and Metabolic Surgery Society, the International Federation of Surgery for Obesity, the Association of Upper GI Surgeons and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. Mr. Jenkinson is passionate about upholding the highest levels of professionalism, care and integrity for his patients. He was inspired to a career in surgery from an early age and qualified from Medical School at 23. He undertook a rigorous residency and fellowship training program over 10 years including placements at the world-renowned Hammersmith Hospital, Royal London Hospital and University College London Hospital. His interest in surgical research was stimulated by the Master of Surgery thesis in the field of surgery for acid reflux (gastroesophageal reflux disease). He has subsequently published over 100 research papers and presentations. In January 2020 Mr Jenkinson published his Sunday Times bestselling popular science book entitle 'Why We Eat (Too Much) - The New Science of Appetite'. Published by Penguin books. This title has received critical acclaim for its description of the pathways involved in weight regulation.
