Biography
My guiding philosophy: Compassionate listening and thoughtful collaboration leading to positive change. My overall goal is to provide a supportive environment in which to help each client decrease psychological distress and improve life functioning. I have over 25 years of broad clinical experience treating adult clients (ages 18 and above) with mild-moderate-severe concerns. My specialty areas include: adjustment difficulties to daily life stressors and to new transitions; anxiety -- including panic attacks, obsessions and compulsions, trauma, and phobias; depression and bipolar disorder; substance abuse/dependence; relationship issues; work problems; self-defeating behaviors; and stress management.
Therapy is individually customized, with the goals of identifying and making positive changes to unhealthy behaviors, attitudes, and emotional responses. More specifically, this includes: (a) identification of problem areas and psychological symptoms; (b) identification and increased understanding of relevant past experiences; and (c) identification and better management of current triggers.
My integrative approach blends theories and techniques from several schools of psychotherapy, including psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, and humanistic. I am an in-network provider for most major insurance plans. Depending on a client's insurance, I accept payment on an in-network, out-of-network, or out-of-pocket basis.
