Description

I feel I have developed good skill set which allows to effectively support other team members in clinical practise, facilitate service development, team growth and manage the caseload effectively. During the past eight years, while working in the NHS, I had a chance to complete orthopaedic, medical , elderly, respiratory and stroke rotations, worked on cardiology, surgical wards. In addition to that since I have worked as Neuro rotational Occupational therapist I had a chance to further develop my skills in Buckinghamshire Neurorehabilitation unit, Acute and Hyper Acute stroke units as well as Early supported discharge team. I have gained confidence in independently managing my caseload while using the most recent guidelines and applying client centred approach. I have developed good clinical reasoning while dealing with complex cases, prioritisation and organisational skills. It allows me to meet service demands in a timely manner. In the past I have attended “Cognitive rehabilitation” and “Introduction to Occupational therapy in a Neurological practice” courses, which allowed me develop better understanding of 24 hour postural and tone management, trunk control, seating, basic understanding of splinting and strategies used in treating physical, sensory and cognitive disabilities such as reorientation, GRASP, mirror therapy and other. I had to organise and run group sessions as well as individual sessions with a patients. While working as a Band 6 Neuro Rotational Occupational therapist I have further developed assessment and treatment skills of stroke patients, improved my clinical reasoning, client centred SMART goal setting, SOAP writing skills, used functional and standardised (OCS, MOCA, Wolf motor function test etc.) assessments in order to identify the problems, come up with graded treatment plan or risk assess for discharge. I have been providing various equipment in order to improve patients independence, took part in a wheelchair provision, attended wheelchair prescriber course. I have developed good skills in communication and patient expectation management. I have completed some projects on a wards and took a lead when required. I have supervised and educated students, as well as trained junior Occupational therapists, completed in service trainings. On multiple occasions I have contributed to improving service efficiency, by making process quicker and more effective, improving communication and making it flow better as well as contributing to performance management.
