I am an ex-Royal Air Force Sergeant that has been working in the Wargamming Industry for the last 3 years. In the Royal Air Force I spent 10 years working in Medical Logistics and Pharmacy that saw me working in both Dispensaries with face to face contact with Patients (customers) and Medical Warehouses supplying Medical Centres (Trade Distributors supplying Retailers). The RAF taught me a lot about discipline, administration and accounting and I have brought this experience with me to Civilian employment. At Maelstrom Games as its Events Manager. I had 2 months’ notice to arrange everything to run the 230+ player Hordes and Warmachine ETC Event that involved hiring a marquee, expanding our gaming space and terrain by 50% and co-ordinating catering for twice as many people as the business normally held. For the rest of my time at Maelstrom/Maunsfeld Gaming I ran the Venue at the weekends, managed the team of Event staff, hosted many Independent events and ran company events. After Maelstrom/Maunsfeld went into administration I was hired by Mantic Games initially to act as the New Releases Assistant which amongst other tasks involved working on the Customer service side of the Kings or War, LOKA and Dreadball Kickstarters. After successfully running the Warehouse Team delivering over 4000 orders in 1-2 months for the Deadzone Kickstarter at an external site to our main Warehouse I was offered the role of Warehouse Co-ordinator. In addition to my day job I also take part in Company Open days, play testing, design meetings and running events and tournaments. In my spare time I like to run & play in Wargaming Events. In January of this year I ran the UK’s largest Warhammer 40,000 Event selling 180 tickets at a time when most other UK events are struggling for 40 players. I believe this is down to the reputation I have built up on running well organised and administrated events whilst also promoting the event by email newsletters and social media.
