Mr Tarique Parwez is a double fellowship trained Consultant specializing in all aspects of Knee Surgery and Primary Hip Arthroplasty Surgery. He has practiced as a consultant for over 17 years. Mr. Parwez has done over 2,250 THRs and 2,250 TKRs, over 3,100 knee arthroscopies and over 300 ACLs and other soft tissue knee ligament surgeries since 2002. More than 1,000 total hip, over 1,000 total knee replacements and over 350 partial knee replacements are recorded on the National Joint registry with satisfactory outcome. He has done many more since 2002 which did not get recorded on the NJR; making him an extremely experienced surgeon. Mr. Parwez practiced as a Locum Consultant at the Heart of England University Hospital NHS Trust, Birmingham (2005-2009). He completed over 200 total hip and total knee arthroplasties a year with excellent outcomes. From 2010 -2016 he was a Consultant and Lead of the department for the last 4 years at Emersons Green NHS treatment centre in Bristol, a highly successful and reputable Independent sector Treatment centre. In 2016, he joined Luton and Dunstable University Hospital NHS trust, Bedfordshire as a consultant in Trauma and Orthopaedics and is the lead for surgical site infection, clinical audit and effectiveness, clinical governance and organiser of the lower limb group meetings. Mr. Parwez completed his undergraduate training from Magadh University, India (1991) and came to the UK in 1993 to undertake a comprehensive postgraduate training programme. He completed his basic surgical training rotation at Aberdeen Hospital, Scotland and successfully passed the FRCS Ed in 1996. He completed the West Midlands Trauma and Orthopaedic higher surgical rotation (1998-2004), during which time he completed a two year part-time diploma in orthopaedic engineering from Cardiff University (2001). Mr. Parwez completed his FRCS (Trauma and Orthopaedics) in 2002 and has undertaken two fellowship posts, a lower limb arthroplasty fellowship (2004/5), and a knee soft tissue and arthroplasty fellowship at Avon Orthopaedic Centre, Southmead Hospital (2009/10). It is one of the two high volume and pioneering centres of unicompartmental knee replacement in UK and the unit with the maximum volume of lateral unicompartmental replacement. His research topic was effect of age and BMI on the longevity of unicompartmental knee replacement and he presented his findings at the Combined Orthopaedic Meeting in Glasgow, 2010. Mr. Parwez continues to add to his professional portfolio at every opportunity and expand his already extensive knowledge, by attending specialist society meetings, conferences, workshops, seminars and discussions with my peers. He also teaches registrars as part of a training workshop and teaches on GP training days.
