Mr Stefanos Almpanis is a Consultant Urological Surgeon at The Lister Hospital in private practice and he holds an NHS post at North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust. Stefanos is an experienced Endo-Urologist and General Urologist with expertise in medical and surgical treatment, testing and prevention of kidney, ureteric and bladder stones. He performs endoscopic complex stone surgery, assesses and treats endoscopically haematuria, bladder tumours, benign prostatic and urethral problems, bladder infections, chronic prostatitis, pelvic / bladder / prostate / testicular pain, lumps of the scrotum and testes and phimosis in the adult population. Stefanos graduated in Medicine in 1994, completed his urological training at a tertiary centre of excellence, accredited by the European Urological Association. He earned honours in the National Board exams for Urological Speciality Accreditation (CCST Urol- FHUA) and European Urological Association exams, becoming a Fellow of the European Urological Association in 2002 (FEBU). In 2003, he successfully presented his PhD Thesis in bladder cancer. Continuing his training at Chelsea & Westminster NHS Trust and The Barts & The London NHS Trust, Stefanos received training funding from Barts Urology Department for his Endourology Fellowship at Barts & The London NHS Trust in 2004. Stefanos has a substantive academic profile, having been appointed Senior Lecturer in Urology at The National University of Athens Medical School from 2008-2010. He has contributed to over 30 peer-reviewed papers, presented posters at more than 100 international conferences and served as a tutor in international training courses in Stone Surgery. He is a tutor for specialist nurses and has active training and educational activities for trainee doctors, also serving as a reviewer for the Journal of Endourology. Stefanos received clinical excellence award for his work in developing Stones Services; he is the lead for the Stone Service Improvement Project (SSIP) at North Mid Hospital, where more than 600 stone procedures are performed every year. He also lead the Haematuria and Bladder Cancer Services at North Mid.
