Since qualifying in 1993 I have specialised in complex disability, working in the UK and USA within the NHS, social services, education and in private practice. I have primarily worked with children and young adults. I am a Best Interest Assessor. My clinical expertise includes: • In-depth understanding of the impact of disability on function for children and young people. • Sensory integration therapist. • Knowledge and practice of a range of treatment interventions and approaches to develop functional skills in children and young adults. • Ability to work in partnership with children, young adults and their families to promote their needs. • Ability to identify care needs for young children and young adults with complex disabilities and understand how these needs will change over time. • In-depth understanding of transition planning. • Knowledge and assessment of specialist equipment. • The ability to assess for and cost packages of care. • Training carers to support children and young adults with complex disabilities. • Expert witness since 2009 preparing care and occupational therapy quantum reports.
