I have been successfully working as a Paediatric Occupational Therapist for 8 years now (2023), following 4 years of intense study in my late 30s/early 40s, leading me to proudly achieve my BU BSc Occupational Therapy degree. This self-development pathway was part of a gradual career change, from 15 years working my way up through the ranks within the Retail Jewellery sector. To undertaking a Psychodynamic Counselling Diploma and related volunteer work experience, which subsequently led to 4 years working as a Learning Support Assistant, in a mainstream education setting and within a specialist Autism resource. This role was my inspiration and motivation for embarking on my Paediatric Occupational Therapy career, with Autism Spectrum Conditions becoming my specialism and passion. Last summer I completed a Special Yoga course specifically designed to support young people with Autism and ADHD. I have since successfully delivered 1:1 and group sessions for students, which I have found to be rewarding, and the students have expressed their positive feedback. I have also been effectively line-managing/supervising Therapy Team colleagues over the last couple of years and have found this aspect of my work rewarding too. I continue to be open to development opportunities, for myself, my career, supervisees and the young people in my care.
