Dr Sailesh Sankar is a Consultant in Endocrinology & Diabetes at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust. He is also an Honorary Asst. Professor at University of Warwick. He completed his Doctorate of Medicine at University of Warwick, and has presented his work at meetings both at national and international level. He deals with all aspects of Endocrinology and diabetes. He has been a consultant for 12 years and has set up the Thyroid clinic, Adolescent endocrine/growth clinic and young person’s diabetes clinic. He has also set up the insulin pump service and the carbohydrate counting patient education programme with the specialist team at UHCW NHS Trust. His clinical interests are General Endocrinology, Diabetes and Cardiovascular risk prevention, Intensive Insulin and Insulin Pump, Adrenal, Pituitary, Parathyroid and Thyroid disorders,. He also has special interest in specialist Adolescent diabetes and endocrinology and Andrology clinic. He also deals with complications of diabetes (Diabetic neuropathy, erectile dysfunction) and General Internal Medicine. He has keen interest in Education and Training. He was the Royal College of Physicians Tutor for the University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust and Local Core Medical Training Director for the Zone. He is the Programme director and Chair for West Midland Deanery Endocrinology and Diabetes Training Programme. He was part of the NICE guideline committee and member of Special Interest Group for Adolescent Endocrinology.
