Dr Rick Popert, Consultant Urological Surgeon, works within the Guys and St Thomass NHS Trust. He has a wealth of experience in performing Robotic radical Prostatectomy, Dynamic Prostate Brachytherapy, Precision Prostate Diagnosis with MRI Fusion Biopsies, and Holmium Laser Prostatectomy (HoLEP). His main expertise lies in the evaluation and surgical treatment of benign and malignant prostatic disease.Dr Popert underwent his Higher Surgical Training at Guys Hospital and did urological research at Kings College Hospital. He was appointed to Consultant in 1996. He has had years of experience in performing specialist procedures, he has carried out over 800 dynamic intra-operative prostate brachytherapy, over 800 biopsies with HoLEP, and 600 robotic prostatectomies. He has established a rapid access prostate MRI assessment service and has pioneered a unique systematic transperineal biopsy approach, which he further developed in 2014 with the introduction of MRI fusion targeted biopsy of the prostate. He also established a prostate arterial embolization service in 2014.
