Passionate Specialist Rotational Paediatric Occupational therapist living and working in Manchester, UK. I am originally from Ireland but moved to the UK to pursue opportunities to study and train (for athletics) being a keen sportsperson also. Along side my full time position in the NHS, I work for GB Para Athletics and coach disabled athletes. I have always known I wanted to work in Paediatrics, coming off rotation into a static role as soon as it presented itself and from there I have applied for various Paeds roles to lead me on to where I am today. Fortunately, Manchester Children's offers a unique opportunity to rotate as a specialist into various paediatric specialties of which I have complete Orthopaedic and Major trauma, Oncology and Neurology and Neurosciences As a young male OT, I feel I provide a unique perspective into the Paediatric world, being one of only a couple of males in my year at University and the only male OT in the Acute Children's Hospital I work in currently. I would love to increase awareness of male representation in OT and share my passion with others. Paired with my OT degree, I am a qualified track and field coach with experience working with both able and disabled young people to help them achieve their sporting goals. I am also completing a course in Triathlon coaching of which I have also adapted to coach disabled athletes. In an ideal world, I would love to find a role that allowed me to pair up OT and disability sport because I feel there is definitely potential for these two roles to become one. I am a keen learner and always looking for a new challenge to get my teeth stuck into. Currently exploring my options for future endeavours whilst gaining invaluable OT experience in my current role.
