Mr Parkash Ramchandani is an oral and maxillofacial/head and neck surgeon based at the Harbour Hospital and Nuffield Bournemouth. He specialises in the resection and reconstruction of head and neck cancer, facial skin cancer, facial deformity, and TMJ. He performs procedures such as minimally invasive arthrocentesis and arthroscopy as well as open jaw joint operations such as TMJ arthroplasty and replacement, maxillofacial trauma, salivary gland disease, orofacial pain, cosmetic surgery, and dentoalveolar surgery. He is also interested in oral medicine, which encompasses disorders like mouth infections, ulcers, and red and white patches and blistering conditions of the mouth lining. Mr Ramchandani obtained his FDSRCS (England) after qualifying in dentistry at Liverpool University in 1990. He then studied medicine at St Andrews/Manchester University, graduating with honours in 1997. He has also undertaken a cancer fellowship in Beijing before becoming a consultant at Poole Hospital in 2005. Mr Ramchandani is the clinical lead for oral and maxillofacial surgery in Dorset and was formerly the clinical governance lead at Poole Hospital. He enjoys teaching and training and is the educational supervisor for two registrars as well as the clinical supervisor for five SHOs. He is also an examiner for the British and Irish Royal Colleges of Surgeons and has been a trainer for the Royal College of Surgeons-accredited Advanced Trauma and Life-support Course. He has given numerous presentations at national and international gatherings, most recently as an invited guest at the annual British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery scientific meeting, where he gave a masterclass in nasal reconstruction.
