I qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 1995 and now have over 27 years of extensive experience working with clients with complex disabilities. I started my career working in the NHS at Addenbrookes Hospital and this included working on the Regional Rehabilitation Unit. This sparked my interest working in the field of neuro rehabilitation. I joined Anglia Case Management in 2007 to establish and deliver a community rehabilitation occupational therapy service. The service worked with people who have severe disabilities, including brain and spinal cord injuries, cerebral palsy and amputation and a trusted reputation to deliver services that are high quality, innovative and effective. I was part of the Senior Management Team at ACM but I also held a clinical caseload of clients. I embrace opportunities to implement innovative treatment techniques for my clients benefit. I am a certified Interactive Metronome (IM) therapy provider and use it for the rehabilitation of cognitive and motor skills. I believe in using a client centered approach to help my clients set goals to achieve change in their life. I use Goal Attainment Scaling and other standardised measures to demonstrate measurable improvement post treatment. I have a particular passion for supporting clients with their vocational goals, including exploring return to paid work or alternative vocational opportunities. I run training days on traumatic brain injury training to support workers. I also design and provide bespoke team training for individual support teams and case managers on clinical matters which affect their practice, such as managing challenging behaviour. As an Occupational Therapist, I am committed to finding ways to help my clients resume every aspect of their daily lives by breaking through the barriers to achieve their maximum potential.
